V8 Supercars driver Tim Blanchard will be back behind the wheel of a Formula Ford this weekend as part of the Winton Festival of Speed.
The 28-year-old is set to steer the Van Diemen RF88 that his father, John Blanchard, raced in the national championship during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The younger Blanchard, who won the 2007 Australian Formula Ford Championship, has made occasional appearances in the car since it became eligible for historic competition.
Blanchard is enduring a difficult V8 Supercars season with Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport and says he's looking forward to a change of scenery this weekend.
“Compared to the V8 Supercars, there's no data, shift lights or anything like that but it's a good, relaxing weekend,” he said.
“Instead of getting out of the car after a race and having to analyse everything, you can just talk about how much fun the race was.”
The Formula Ford races will feature at the three-day event alongside a full cast of historic categories, including HQ Holdens.
