A proposed new motorsport complex on the Central Coast has received a boost with confirmation of support from local council.
Named CASAR Park, the proposed facility on the northern edge of the Central Coast's Wyong Shire will include a 3.5km racing circuit.
The consortium of local businessman behind the not-for-profit project hope to hold club level race meetings at the venue, in addition to driver training and other motorsport related activities.
The group is now commencing a funding drive in order to secure approximately $350,000 for a development application.
Future plans will require $14 million to construct the 3.5 km tarmac circuit, undercover pit garages, driver training facilities, a dual use go-kart track / simulated driving environment and associated amenities.
When fully operational it is claimed that the complex can inject $17 million per year in economic benefit into the local economy annually.
“CASAR Park will become the number one visitor draw card for the Central Coast and will change the economic face of the local community through tourism, sport, recreation, and social Inclusion.” said co-founder of CASAR Park, Brad Wilson.
Western Sydney's Sydney Motorsport Park and Goulburn's Wakefield Park are currently New South Wales' two key permanent racing facilities.
The CASAR Park concept has been a work-in-progress since July, 2010.
