A Mazda 767B that was built for Group C competition in the late 1980's will perform demonstration laps at the World Time Attack Challenge event at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.
The 767B, one of three which competed at the 1991 Le Mans 24 Hour race, will play a the starring role at the meeting.
It was a forerunner to the 787B which claimed the 1991 Le Mans marathon at the hands of Johnny Herbert, Bertrand Gachot and Volker Weidler.
Mazda remains the only Japanese manufacturer to succeed at the twice-around-the-clock classic with the 787B feted as one of the Hiroshima maker's most important cars.
Among the other events on the World Time Attack program are Formula Drift, the Turbosmart Flying 500 with tuner cars going head-to-head and turbo legends.
