Anderson continues winning ways

The 2019-20 season winning ways for Grant Anderson and his team continued last Saturday night at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway following back-to-back Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series round wins. Anderson Continues Winning Ways

Backing up his opening Eureka Garages & Sheds Series round success at Heartland Raceway the previous weekend, Anderson proved that his opening round win was no fluke with two round wins from as many starts.

Doubling as the annual Fireball Derby, the Vic # 37 Monds Motorsport / WASP Steering & Suspension supported Maxim driver once again started the feature race from pole position. However, this time, he had earned the spot fair and square after recording the fastest lap in the pole shootout after he in the opening round had inherited pole position following another driver’s misfortune.

After leading the entire feature-race distance at Heartland Raceway, it was a different story for Anderson at Avalon Raceway, where he battled with David Murcott for the opening half of the 30-lap distance, before taking control of the lead in the middle stages while they fought in lapped traffic. Once out in front, Anderson was able to withstand the challenges from Murcott and score yet another impressive win.

“It’s a fantastic feeling to start the season in winning form, and I can’t thank all of my team and sponsors for their support and helping us make it all possible,” the Albury, NSW-based racer expressed.

“(David) Murcott and I had a great battle during the feature race but thankfully my team once again gave me a fabulous car and I was able to take control of the lead and then go on to claim the win.

“Although my team and I are currently riding a wave of confidence, we are certainly not getting too far ahead of ourselves and taking each race meeting as it comes.”

Anderson earlier in the night earned his pole position start in the feature race by virtue of winning the pole shootout. Prior to the pole shootout, he had won both of his heat races – one from position four and the other from position seven.

This Saturday night, Anderson will make his first 2019-20 season appearance at his favourite track: Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway. For this event, he is shooting for a hat trick of Eureka Garages & Sheds Series round wins.

Current Eureka Garages & Sheds Series Point Standings (after two rounds):
1: Grant Anderson – 830
2: Brett Milburn – 704
3: Bobby Daly – 702
4: Chris Solomon – 618
5: Corey McCullagh – 592
