Clipsal 500 Adelaide organisers have confirmed the event's full support category line-up for 2016, without the Dunlop Series.
The second-tier V8 Supercars class has featured at the popular street race each year since 2003 and is seen as a key round for team sponsors.
An announcement from the Clipsal 500 this morning confirms that the Aussie Racing Cars will instead return to the event after a one-year absence.
The pint-sized machines will share the weekend with the returning Stadium Super Trucks, Carrera Cup, Australian GT, V8 Utes, Touring Car Masters and the headline V8 Supercars act.
Event CEO Mark Warren stressed a desire to deliver variety for fans in a statement announcing the line-up.
“We are very excited to announce another action-packed racing line up for the 2016 Clipsal 500,” said Warren.
“We're one of few motorsport events in the world that can offer fans such variety, and with several fan favourites returning to the track next year it's sure to be one of our most popular events.
“Not only does the line-up cater for motorsport enthusiasts, but it's the likes of the Stadium Super Trucks and the Australian GT series which offers unpredictability and heated action which appeals to both motorsport fans and event goers.”
Last year saw the Dunlop Series initially miss out on a slot in the Clipsal schedule amid a push to add international flavour to the event via the American Super Trucks and a Ferrari Formula 1 demonstration.
Extensive negotiations with V8 Supercars then saw the series squeezed into the line-up before the full support category roster was announced.
