Organisers of the Bathurst 12 Hour have confirmed the support classes for the 2013 event.
Sports Sedans, Improved Production, Formula Ford and the HQ Holdens will be the crowd-pleasers on February 8 and 9 before the 12 Hour commences on Feb 10.
More than 130 cars are expected to compete across the four support categories.
Over 40 Sports Sedans have confirmed their entry for the event, including current Kerrick Sports Sedan Series leader Kerry Baily.
The HQ Holdens have secured a return to the Mountain with a pair of one-hour races that will feature driver changes mid-race. The ‘Kenda Tyres Endurance Classic' will also see the Queensland-based Holden Gemini series join the HQs as a ‘race within a race'.
A staple on the Queensland scene for many years, the Gemini's lap within a similar pace as the HQs.
“Both categories run together quite regularly in Queensland and they are fairly comparable in performance – the HQ's are slightly quicker – and it will add some excitement, another visual element for the spectacle and help further boost numbers,” HQ category manager Dale Youd explained.
“The Gemini guys are super keen as they have never had the opportunity to run at Bathurst.”
The return of Improved Production will bring a 50-plus field, while the Formula Ford will return to Bathurst for their second-straight year. The Formula Fords will be the state-level 1600cc Ford-powered racers.
