The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport has announced a seven round calendar for the 2016 Shannons Nationals.
Now under the control of CAMS, the Shannons Nationals program will once again hold its opening round at Victoria's Sandown Raceway on April 1-3 before moving to Phillip Island on May 27-29.
Winton will host the third round from June 10-12 before July visits to Sydney Motorsport Park and Queensland Raceway.
A second trip to Phillip Island from September 9-11 precedes the final round held at Sydney Motorsport Park over the November 11-13 weekend.
The announcement sees Wakefield Park lose its slot on the program after featuring on the eight round 2015 calendar.
“We are delighted to announce a seven round national calendar featuring the best permanent circuits in the country,” said CAMS General Manager of Motor Sport Development Cameron McConville.
A full category list featuring Australian GT, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, Sports Sedans, Radicals, F3 and V8 Touring Cars for the 2016 season will be released shortly.
CAMS are continuing to work on attracting new categories to the Shannons Nationals program.
“We have maintained all along that it wouldn't look that different to this year and happily we can also confirm that the main Shannons supporters will be back such as Australian GT, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, Sports Sedans, Radicals, F3 and V8 Touring Cars and we also look forward to welcoming a few new categories next year,” McConville continued.
CAMS has also confirmed that all the rounds will feature free-to-air and pay television alongside a continuation of the online live streaming service.
