CR Racing HQ Car 9 Ready to Tackle the mountain again!

CR Racing HQ Car 9 Ready to Tackle the mountain again!CR Racing have car 9 ready to tackle the famous Mt Panorama circuit. This will be the teams 3rd tour of the mountain. Having successfully competed in the HQ 2 Hour enduro at the 12hour in Feb 2014 taking out class honors. The team returned in 2016 for the Bathurst Motorsport Festival, where they had a dramatic weekend, we were all reminded these cars are 40 years old. Matt was heading out of the chase when the engine expired in spectacular style throwing a rod through the sump. The team had a long night as they found once they had fitted the spare engine (used at the previous Winton 4 hour finished top 15) it had split a bore. Bob and Ken Wright came to the rescue and lent the team their spare engine. So 2 engines later Matt was able to start Sunday\’s race albeit from the rear of the 55 car field and finished P38 behind the safety car after just 4 laps of racing.

HQ CAR 9

HQ no 9 is one of the original Tasmanian cars built up to HQ racing spec in 1989. It\’s had several owners over the years; originally competing in Tasmania until the mid 90’s when it was brought to SA. We are told it was parked in a shed for 14 years in Clare (SA) before being purchased by HQ stalwart Graham Boulter who\’s son Matt campaigned the car for a few years before CR Racing purchased the car in 2013. It has been raced at many great circuits including, Simmons Plains, Baskerville, AIR, Adelaide Grand Prix, Mallala, Sandown, Bathurst, Winton and Sydney Motorsport Park.

MATT LINSCOTT

Matt (24) has been competing in motorsport since he was 12 and has campaigned the HQ for the past 3 years. Matt’s goal is to learn as much as possible in this category, giving him the skills to further his motorsport ambition. Matt has been able to continue racing with the support of major sponsor, Contract Resources Ltd, as well as lubrication products from Valvoline, Kenda Tyres & Alignment from Victor Harbor Tyrepower, Engines from Boss Muscle Cars, Hose & Fittings from Pirtek Adelaide and of course help from Mum & Dad (Steve & Kathy). Special thanks to Trevor Penny (Contract Resources), Trevor has supported Matt through his racing career and has been instrumental in keeping the HQ on the track! Trevor frequently travels from his home in Houston USA to support his team in OZ.

Matt will be joined by fellow South Australian young guns, Joel Heinrich (Car 2) and Tim McNamara (Car 61) as well as HQ racing new comer Scott Vickery (Car 66). This will be Tim and Scott’s debut at Mount Panorama in the competitive Holden HQ series.

Matt said “I can’t wait to get back to Bathurst, it is a track that I really enjoy and I am very fortunate to be able to race at such an historic place. We hope to do well in the 55 car field, qualifying well is the key”.
