Plus IT backed South Australian racer George Gutierrez is ready for a tropic tussle for the next round of the Toyota 86 Racing Series in Townsville this weekend.
After a lengthy break since opening round of the Toyota series at Victoria’s Phillip Island back in April, Round 2 of the series sees Gutierrez’s Adelaide based family-run team make the trip up to North Queensland, once again in support of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
Gutierrez has taken advantage of the break between rounds to hone his craft, spending a couple of days with Paul Morris’s crew up at Norwell to refine his technique in order to move his Plus IT Toyota 86 to the front of the highly competitive one-make series. Experience the young driver expects to be to his advantage on the tough tight street circuit.
“Townsville is one of my favourite rounds of the year. It’s a great escape from the Adelaide winter for a couple of days,” said Gutierrez.
“Last year was our first time there, so hopefully that track knowledge we gained will play into our hands this year.”
“We’ve done plenty of homework between rounds and spent some time with the Paul Morris Driver Academy crew, so hopefully we can take that experience into this weekend.”
“We’re aiming for a good result, for sure, but also keeping it level headed at the moment and will take the weekend as it comes.”
“Thanks again to my major sponsor Plus IT. I really hope we can bring them and my team the result they deserve!”
The Toyota 86 Racing Series will be on track up in Townsville from Friday, with all the action will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, channel 506, as well as streamed online by Kayo Sports.
