Junior state title, Mini Lightning Sprints state title, Wingless Series, Fireworks and Demolition Derby at Nyora this Saturday

Saturday night at Nyora Raceway will be another huge night of motorsport and family entertainment with on track action including a state title for the Junior Standard Saloons and for the Mini and Lightning Sprints, a series round for the Wingless Sprints and also the Ladies Standard Saloons. In addition, plenty of support action from Open Standard Saloons, Sports Sedans and Speedway Sedan’s Australia Juniors along with a night closing Demolition Derby and Fireworks display.

Kids from the ages of ten and up to seventeen will compete in the Victorian Speedway Council Junior Standard Saloon title with Nyora the host club having plenty of chances amongst their own members to win the coveted number one plate. Harry Cecil and Nathan Miles lead the Nyora club up against the challengers from Alexandra Club up to Bairnsdale club that include Linken Paterson, Jack and Tom Braz, and Beau Stuchbery. The kids are very quick and without fear, in fact some of them are quicker than adults at their own home track venues!

The Victorian Mini and Lightning Sprints ‘East Coast Clear Pools’ state title will be hotly contested with the likes of Harley Graham, Ally Moore, Andrew Burleigh, David Alie, Luke Graham, and Kurt Wilson the current Queensland champion in the similar Lightning Sprints category all competing. Wilson is the favourite on paper with Harley Graham and Ally Moore serious challengers this Saturday night for the number one.

The Wingless Sprints had round five of their Gippsland series rained out on Sunday and they head into town for the final round six this weekend. Six drivers are in with a serious chance of winning the overall depending on results, current leader Thomas McDonald from Koo Wee Rup, Ricky Mills from Traralgon, Wayne Logue from Morwell, Ben Hodge, Kim Gosling and Peter Logue.

The fly in the ointment as they set about trying to win the series is that drivers such as Robert Whiteside from the Wimmera, Blaine Densley a recent winner at Nyora, Adin Robertson, Jake Warren, Dillon Siely, Chris Temby and Travis Millar are entered and cannot win the series. They just want to win the feature race to close out the season in Gippsland.

In Sports Sedan action Daniel Knight has been the best performed Nyora member across the season and he will be up against Nyora legend Simon Bent, and hard chargers such as former track one lap record holder Lee Beach who happens to be a former state champion of the class, Cameron and John Dike, Peter and Scott Angus and Fletcher Barron a visiting young gun. It is going to be tough to pinpoint a winner in this field.

Victorian champion Rhys Lansdown is amongst the field in the Standard Saloons line-up that includes tough competition from Mitch Foster, Mitch Blencowe, Chris Miles, Andrew Miles, Kacey Ingram and Mark Miles. The competition will be tough with Lansdown a recent winner in Wahgunyah where the pole line is 630 metres needing to change his set up down to compete on the 380 metre pole line at Nyora.

Ladies across Gippsland have been competing in a series this season also and with three round’s still to be completed if possible; drivers are keen to get a decent collection of points out of this Saturday night at Nyora. Caroline Allen has the most points so far in the series however with recent Daylesford winner, Sarah Gartner in the field plus two times Victorian champion Ally Morrison, recent state title podium placegetter Katie Meyer, and competitive drivers Michelle George, Maddison Miles, Bronwyn Miles, Elise Halliday, Kylie Lansdown and rookie Bree Walker, the action is going to be hectic at the front for line honours.

Speedway Sedans Australia Junior competition was boosted by entrants after another event was cancelled due to track conditions yesterday. Nyora racers Matilda Farrell, Jaylen Knight, Cruz Farrell and Tristan Jarred will see the likes of Tyler Smith from Tasmania, Steane Cosson, Bree Simpson, James Peacock, Zach Erickson, River Paterson and Kiarna Barton in the field. Terrific racing from the kids in their up to 1500cc racecars will see them zig and zag their way around Nyora.

The Demolition Derby is what the majority of the fans will have come to see and Luke Milburn has had his eyes set on this event since October. A Demolition Derby specialist he will be up against the likes of Nyora President Marcus Reddecliffe, Rhys Lansdown, Brad Trainor, Andrew Miles and Darwyn Lee in this anything goes, mayhem abound spectacular.

Racing begins at 3:30pm at Grundy Avenue Nyora at the recreational reserve.

Admission is $30 an adult ticket, cheaper price if you buy an online ticket following procedures on the club’s website or social media page,

$10 for Aged and Disabled Pensioners, Teenagers 12 to 16 costs $15 (Also cheaper if brought prior to the event, online) and kids zero to the age of eleven $5. Two Adults and two teenagers can combine for a family ticket costing just $60.
