KMS secure runner-up WSS finish

KMS Secure Runner-Up WSS FinishAfter a challenging start to their 2017-18 season World Series Sprintcars Championship campaign, the Krikke Motorsport team and their driver Jamie Veal sealed second place in the final point standings over the weekend at the Perth Motorplex in Western Australia.

A podium finish (third) in last night’s 14th and final round wrapped up the team’s assault on the World Series Title, which saw them finish second in the final point standings behind defending champion James McFadden.

Despite finishing the latter half of the WSS Championship chase in solid form, which included a pair of round wins (Gulf Western & Independent Oils Raceway in Tasmania and Bunbury Speedway in Western Australia), Veal was unsuccessful in his efforts to reel in leader McFadden.

Veal and the Krikke Motorsport team might have endured a mixed run throughout their WSS Championship campaign but one thing that they didn’t do, and that was drop their heads.

“Although we’ve had race-winning pace throughout the World Series Championship, there were a few moments where luck simply wasn’t on our side,” reflected the WA # 2 Transport Equipment Hire / Pumpa Manufacturing supported Maxim driver, who finished just off the podium in fourth in Saturday night’s 13th and penultimate round at the Perth Motorplex.

“Our team showed plenty of fight at every round, and the way we finished the championship was a true reflection of all of the continued hard work and determination of the whole team.”

In what is the Veal and Krikke Motorsport team’s final 2017-18 season appearance for this Saturday and Sunday night’s Krikke Boys Shootout at the team’s home track: Bunbury Speedway.

“The Krikke Boys Shootout event means a lot to the whole speedway community, and of course everyone in our team,” Veal commented.

“Considering that we won the World Series round there (Bunbury Speedway) a fortnight ago, we are heading into the Krikke Boys Shootout with a lot of confidence and are hoping to finish our season together on a high.”

Final WSS Championship Point Standings (after 14 completed rounds):
1: James McFadden – 3416 points
2: Jamie Veal – 3193
3: Carson Macedo – 2798
4: Kerry Madsen – 2643
5: David Murcott – 2602
