Slideways Le Mans Kart Racing has launched its Kids Track, giving kids of all ages the chance to give racing a go with their older brother, sister or go kart loving parents.
The Kids Track at Pimpama, just two minutes north of Dreamworld (take exit 54 from the Pacific Motorway), joins the centre’s main track, which underwent a $750,000 refurbishment last year.
Slideways Go Karting Australia owner Cam Wilson, who has go karting centres in Eagle Farm and Nerang said the new track had been custom designed for kids.
“The Kids Track is a first for us and one of the most exciting tracks for kids in Australia. It is 320m long, can race up to eight karts at once and has all the safety and kart control equipment to give parents peace of mind,” Mr Wilson said.
To race on the Kids Track, drivers need to be over 120cm, which Slideways Go Karting suggests is often from the age of seven.
Children who are between 90cm and 130cm can race on the same track as passengers in two-seater karts driven by an adult.
Mr Wilson said the Kids Track made the outdoor centre fully inclusive for the whole family with plans in place for an additional track, the Tikes Track to be completed this year.
“The Tikes Track will feature mini electric cars remote controlled by parents and designed for children aged 3-6 years old,” Mr Wilson said.
“We’re creating a go karting centre that is perfect for the whole family. The Kids Track and the Tikes Track mean children with older brothers or sisters or taller friends can race and not be excluded or have to find another activity.
“Go karting is such a great sporting activity to be a part of and with our new track, it means we’re given more people, even the little ones, a chance to have a go!”
