V8 Utes Series driver Andrew Fisher is preparing to step into unfamiliar territory behind the wheel of a left-hand-drive Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car in the Bathurst 12 Hour this weekend.
Fisher joined the Rentcorp Motorsport squad in a shakedown session at Wakefield Park recently.
He was chosen from a list of candidates pitching for the seat in a line-up that includes team owner Indiran Padayachee, Ric Shaw and Aaron Zerefos.
“I was pleasantly surprised at Andrew's performance,” Padayachee said.
“This is his first time in a Porsche and he has never driven a left-hand-drive car before.
“It's a thoroughbred race car, very different from his V8 ute, but within just a couple of laps Andrew was on the pace and looked very comfortable.
“I've known Andrew for years, raced against him in production sports and seen him in the utes.
