Ryan Dungey and Aaron Plessinger have each claimed emphatic victories at Round 13 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis.
In one of the most exciting 450 main events of the year, Dungey and Ken Roczen put on an incredible display as the two battled for the lead position for almost the entire 20 laps.
Although Roczen appeared to have a slightly quicker pace than Dungey, the young German rider couldn't make a decisive pass on the extremely rutted Indianapolis circuit, and would eventually cross the line a mere 1.2s in arrears.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Jason Anderson finished in third, although a disappointing 30s behind the leaders.
Anderson's starts once again played havoc during the main, as he circulated the first lap in a lowly 10th place.
HRC Honda's Trey Canard pieced together a solid ride on the technical track for fourth, followed by Yoshimura Suzuki's Blake Baggett who finished in fifth.
Monster Energy/360fly Yamaha's Chad Reed was also hampered by a poor start as the Australian began his race in 11th.
An impressive charge saw Reed move past five riders during the race and finish sixth.
Christophe Pourcel finished in seventh, with Justin Brayton in eighth.
Eli Tomac's puzzling supercross season continued with the #3 Monster Energy Kawasaki rider in tow with the leaders during the opening two laps.
Tomac would fall off the pace, and then go down which resulted in a disappointing ninth place.
After capturing the holeshot, Mike Alessi finished in 10th.
In the 250 East Coast series, Plessinger became the fifth different race winner as he broke through for a maiden career victory.
Points leader Malcolm Stewart finished in second, with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki fill-in rider, Gannon Audette, claiming third.
TLD KTM's Shane Mcelrath finished fourth, followed by Martin Davalos in fifth.
Geico Honda's RJ Hampshire put in a consistent ride for sixth, finishing ahead of Traders Kawasaki's Anthony Rodriguez in seventh and the second Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki of Tyler Bowers in eighth.
Luke Renzland and Cedric Soubeyras finished in ninth and 10th respectively.
Dungey continues to stretch his lead in the 450 class to 303 points, followed by Roczen with 258 and Jason Anderson with 240.
Stewart also maintains his lead in the 250 East series with 102 points, followed by Plessinger with 92 and Martin Davalos with 77.
Monster Energy Supercross remains on the East Coast for next weekend, as the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis hosts round 14 of the 17 round championship.
