Tim Blanchard’s Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport Holden will compete with primary backing from Blanchard family business Cooldrive this season.
The team has revealed the livery that the ex-Russell Ingall Commodore will carry throughout the year, starting at this weekend’s Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
Cooldrive Distribution supplies aftermarket automotive air conditioning, radiator and electrical products throughout Australia.
Blanchard has worked in the company’s marketing department in recent years alongside his racing exploits.
The 27-year-old returns to a full-time V8 Supercars Championship seat this season after acting as an enduro driver for LDM in 2014.
“Having worked with LDM last year and seeing the enormous change they’ve undertaken since then in terms of staffing and resources, I am very excited about the prospects for this year,” said Blanchard.
“It’s a team determined to improve its performance, I think I am joining them at the right time and I am looking forward to taking the CoolDrive brand to the sharp end of the field.”
Blanchard’s Holden had run with basic Cooldrive branding at February’s Sydney SuperTest prior to the full livery unveiling.
“Motorsport has been an intrinsic part of the Cooldrive business since it’s inception,”Cooldrive marketing manager John Phair said.
“It’s the perfect platform to promote our brand and to demonstrate the performance and quality of our products, and it speaks directly to our customers … the majority of whom are interested in the sport in one form or another.
“That’s why it’s important to have an involvement at the professional end of the sport, through V8 Supercars, but equally also in Historic Racing, hill climbs, rallying and the many other forms of the sport.”
Blanchard endured a rough outing at the Sydney test, missing the majority of Saturday’s running while the team attended to mechanical issues with the newly rebuilt car.
He went on to place 22nd in the Sunday afternoon Armor All Shootout, ahead only of the three drivers that had their times removed for infringements.
LDM is yet to reveal a sponsor or livery for its second entry, to be driven by Nick Percat.
