A huge Formula Ford accident at McPhillamy Park has halted proceedings at Mount Panorama this morning.
Championship contenders Shae Davies and Garry Jacobson collided at the top of the mountain after Davies spun on his own and was stranded helpless in the middle of the circuit.
Across the blind left-hand brow, Jacobson side swiped Davies' Spectrum in a huge impact.
Davies walked away from his car, while Jacobson was helped from his car by the medical staff.
Anton De Pasquale was running closely behind his Sonic team-mate Jacobson before the accident but narrowly avoided more contact.
“I saw the yellow flag just before I turned left at McPhillamy Park,” De Pasquale told Speecafe.com.
“Garry was ahead of me. He went left. I went right, and I only just missed him. It was a pretty scary moment.”
The session had only seen each competitor set one fast lap, with Jacobson sitting on top of the charts. Davies was 11th. In the two practice sessions yesterday, Jacobson and Davies were the fastest in the two sessions respectively.
Both drivers were taken to medical centre for observations.
