The FIA Formula E Championship will host a race at America's famous Long Beach street circuit next year.
The venue has been added to the all new electric single seater category's inaugural calendar with the event taking place on April 4, just two weeks before the marquee IndyCar race.
Formula E will use a shortened 2.1km iteration of the circuit which has hosted F1 and IndyCar races since 1976.
“Long Beach is proud to be among the elite group of international cities hosting the FIA Formula E Championship,” said Mayor Bob Foster.
“The Long Beach ePrix will bring a new generation of race fans to the iconic streets of Long Beach.”
Long Beach City council has recently extended its contract to host IndyCar races through to 2018 despite growing speculation that F1 could return to the circuit in the future.
The Long Beach ePrix is one of 10 events on the championship's inaugural calendar which begins on September 13 with a visit to Beijing, China.
