V8 Supercars team owner Lucas Dumbrell is suing the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport and Australian Formula Ford Management over the crash which has left him a quadriplegic.
During the last round of the 2008 Australian Formula Ford Championship at Oran Park, NSW, Dumbrell collected the back of a rival competitor under Safety Car conditions, rolling his car several times.
The incident has confined Dumbrell to a wheel chair for the rest of his life, which he is claiming will cost him millions in day-to-day care.
According to The Herald Sun, Dumbrell, who now owns and operates his own V8 Supercars team, has launched legal action in the Supreme Court against CAMS and Formula Ford Management.
Dumbrell claims that he could not see the yellow flag signals under the Safety Car conditions and that CAMS and Formula Ford were negligent in failing to implement adequate safety systems.
