AUS-X Open organisers have put up a $1 million prize to be shared by attendees who correctly predict the finishing order of each night’s SX1 Finals at the 2017 event.
Known as the ‘AUS-X Million’, ticket-holders must correctly guess the Top 12 finishers in the SX1 Finals on Saturday night and Sunday night to share in the top, million-dollar prize.
The prize is essentially split in two, with ticket-holders for either of Saturday or Sunday night who correctly guess the Top 12 on the night they attend, sharing in a $500,000 prize.
Event co-founder Ryan Sanderson says the potential seven-figure win has been an objective for some time, and hopes it will be a major draw to the event.
“We’re absolutely ecstatic to be able to announce the ‘AUS-X Million’ today and give each and every one of our attendees a shot at a life changing $1 million dollars, just by purchasing any ticket to both nights of this year’s event,” said Sanderson.
“Our team here at AUS-X Open have worked tirelessly for over two years to get this amazing competition across the line and it wouldn’t be possible without the massive support of our loyal fans who make the pilgrimage to Sydney each year.
“We feel offering this opportunity, is just a deserved reward for their loyalty to the event.
“The atmosphere is going to be electric across both nights of the AUS-X Open and fans have yet another reason to cheer for their favourite Supercross riders to finish in the order they selected.
“We can’t wait to see if a ticket holder can win $500,000 or the ‘AUS-X Million’, it certainly would be a very special experience to witness.”
While the prize pool is significant, the odds of sharing in the prize on either night, let alone both nights, are extremely long.
Unlike a standard lottery, where the order of the draw does not matter, picking the correct finishing order adds a significant layer of complexity to selecting the 12 riders in question.
Entrants must be over 18 years of age, with full terms and conditions to be released in October, when rider entries have been confirmed.
In other AUS-X Open news, Robbie Maddison has been locked in to the freestyle motocross ‘best trick’ competition.
Supercross entrants already announced are Chad Reed, Ricky Carmichael, and Jason Anderson.
The AUS-X Open incorporates the fourth and fifth rounds of the six-round Australian Supercross Championship, as well as freestyle motocross.
The 2017 event will be held at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena (Sydney Superdome) on November 11-12.
