Jetstar Gold Coast Titans star Greg Bird has taken on V8 Supercars driver Steve Owen in a cross-code challenge.
Ahead of Friday night's local derby against the Broncos at Skilled Park, the Titan's five-eighth and the VIP Petfoods Ford driver were involved in a media opportunity, with Bird completing a mock pit stop.
Fans at tomorrow night's game will have the same opportunity, with the four fastest contestants on the night qualifying for a final inside Skilled Park at half-time. The overall winner will receive a hot lap at Norwell Park on December 10.
Also, Bird and Owen battled it out in a pedal go karts challenge at Skilled Park before Bird was given a close-up look of Owen's V8 Supercar.
Pedal go karts from Go Kart Wild will also be available for fans to try out on Friday night inside a 20 x 10 metre fully inflatable track. Victorian born Owen said he was eager to take in the Titans-Broncos local derby for the first time and also test out fans' tyre changing skills.
“We're looking forward to coming down on Friday and watching all the boys in action,'' said Owen.
“We're coming down with the V.I.P Petfoods car to give all the fans a chance to take on our crew in a pit stop competition and the winner will come out and do a hot lap with us so that'll be exciting and something a bit different for them.''
Bird, who will miss Friday night's clash as he continues his rehabilitation from a pectoral muscle injury, said the pit stop challenge was something different for the fans to enjoy on game day.
“It'll be good the fans to come out and have a go and I think it's a good opportunity for them to win a hot lap at the pit stop challenge,'' said Bird.
“I'd definitely be interested in one but I've never had the opportunity. I heard it's pretty scary, and I'm not really good in fast cars.''
