ANDRA is rallying to gather the public’s interest for a much-needed professional Melbourne drag strip.
ANDRA and its consultancy team has been working overtime in recent years, trying to secure support from the Victorian government to construct a new ANDRA Championship Drag Racing facility in the southern state.
To facilitate this process, a brand new website – MOTORvate MElbourne has been created http://www.motorvatemelbourne.com
The website includes an online petition.
In addition to this, a public rally and car show is being held at the Melbourne Showgrounds on February 20, 2010.
Furthermore, an artist’s impression of ANDRA’s submission to the Victorian government has been released.
The state-of-the-art facility features a new ‘twin track’ (four lanes) drag strip, allowing four cars to race at once. And in a championship meeting, if one track is being cleaned up, there’s another track ready and waiting to go.
The drag strip goes down hill from the start line to get the best advantage for the racer, then when the parachute comes out, it goes uphill for the first part of the braking area to help slow them down and keep things stable and safe.
Also penciled into the impressions and submission is a burnout snake pits, a sprint circuit for Club Cruz’n, Sprints, Drifting, Car Club days, Motorkhana, Driver Training and more.
