The Aussie Racing Cars concept could be set to go offshore if current dealings come to fruition.

Class founder Phil Ward is in discussions with at least two regions to take his pint-sized motor racing concept abroad.

China and the Middle East have shown interest in embracing the style of racing.

At this weekend’s Aussie Racing Cars season finale at Morgan Park, Chinese competitor MA Qinghua will drive one of Ward’s factory-prepared cars.

Qinghua, a Formula 3 competitor in China, is linked with local team Imperial Motorsport, who is keen to manufacture and develop its own Aussie Racing Car formula in China.

Ward told Speedcafe.com.au that he is in deep discussions with Imperial Motorsport about taking the popular category overseas.

“For the Morgan Park round, we have F3 champion MA Qinghua coming to race here, which comes off the back of negotiations with his boss at Imperial Motorsport, who is working with us to help develop our product in China,” Ward told Speedcafe.com.au.

“Our discussions with various countries around the world are progressing pretty well in relation to establishing national racing series in each country, using the Aussie Racing Cars product with body shapes engineered to each specific market.”

Ward is confident that a deal to take his concept abroad will happen.

“It will happen, for sure,” he said.

“The negotiations are moving along very well. All these things take a bit of time, but our product is world class and although there are some small race car products around the world, I feel ours is the best. We have the ability to be able to, in particular, engineer body shapes to specific markets.

“All the body shapes would be developed here in Australia, but depending on the particular deals, the manufacturing could be completed overseas.”
