V8 Supercars Australia has been forced to change the date of Round 13 of the V8 Championship Series at Symmons Plains.
The new date for the Tasmanian round is now November 12-14, one weekend later than it was originally scheduled (Nov 5-7). The new date will see the Symmons Plains round contested one week before the penultimate round at Sandown International Raceway.
A brief press statement from V8SA late tonight said: “V8 Supercar Board confirmed at the last meeting that they could accommodate the rescheduling of the Tasmanian race date to avoid a potential conflict that had been brought to their attention.”
It is believed that the change of date may have been due to Channel 7’s commitment to broadcasting the Spring Racing Carnival. The original Symmons Plains date would have seen a major clash on Saturday – the Emirates Stakes Day and V8’s Saturday race.
