Record-breaking F1 driver Michael Schumacher has shown momentary signs of regaining consciousness from his coma according to official reports.
His long-time agent Sabine Kehm released a statement saying that Schumacher is showing signs of progress.
The news comes three weeks after reports surfaced that the seven-times world champion had shown encouraging signs as he lay in an induced coma in Grenoble University hospital in France.
Kehm said that Schumacher had shown signs of conscious moments.
“We are on his side during his long and difficult fight, together with the team of the hospital in Grenoble,” Kehm said in an official statement.
“We would like to thank you all for the continuous sympathies. At the same time we again ask for understanding that we do not intend to disclose details.”
Schumacher's life has hung in the balance since smashing his head on a rock while skiing in the resort town of Meribel on December 29.
Doctors have always refused to give a prognosis for the 45-year-old who retired after a second time from grand prix racing at the end of 2012.
