Bathurst Regional Council has provided a further glimpse into how the proposed second circuit at Mount Panorama could look once completed.
Plans to construct a new permanent circuit adjacent to the existing famous 6.2km Bathurst circuit are well underway with BRC currently lobbying for funding to build the $52 million facility.
New renders of the FIA/FIM accredited venue have emerged courtesy of the council’s August community update which provides more details of the project.
The document showcases an overview of the circuit located on the 200 hectare site west of McPhillamy Park and includes artist impressions of the proposed pit buildings.
While it has long been understood that the circuit will be split into several layouts, the update also states that the circuit will include a 1.26km rallycross track fit to host the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
The facility will also have room to expand with a hotel and driver training centre proposed as a future developments.
According to the document on the BRC website, the circuit is being assessed as State Significant Development by the New South Wales Government.
This will require an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to be carried out to assess the potential environmental impacts of the proposal and provide mitigation measures.
Technical surveys for the EIS have commenced with a draft and proposed circuit design set to be placed on public exhibition in late 2019 for community viewing and feedback.
BRC claims that construction of the site would likely commence in early 2021, subject to the timing of development consent and funding arrangements.
It also estimates the project will be completed within 24 months once underway.
BRC will put on five community ‘drop-in’ events this month to allow residents to discuss the project.
