A number of iconic Peter Brock race cars are set to be auctioned at an event in Bathurst during this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 weekend.
The fleet, some of which will also be displayed at Mount Panorama during the Supercars round, includes the 1982 and 1983 Bathurst 1000-winning HDT VH Commodore and the last Group C ‘Big Banger’ which won The Great Race in 1984.
Both of those cars, as well as a test mule Torana A9X, are also being exhibited at this weekend’s Red Rooster Sydney SuperNight 300.
Brock cars will also be put on show at September’s Rabble.Club Sandown 500.
Cars will be sold individually on the eve of the Great Race, October 6, at an event organised by Lloyds Auctions at its classic car facility in Kelso, adjacent to Bathurst town itself.
Lloyds Auctions are expecting the ‘Big Banger’ to break records for an Australian produced car by exceeding a $2 million price tag.
“I’ve raced the ‘Big Banger’ around the track several times, she still goes like a beauty and that’s what this entire collection is about – enjoying the cars is what Peter would have wanted,” said HDT owner Peter Champion.
“This car has a lot of great history and even better stories that come along with it. This is not just an ordinary car – it’s a very special piece of history.”
Among the collection to go under the hammer are Brock’s 2002 Bathurst Commodore VX, 1987 #05 Mobil Commodore VL, 1995 Mobil 1 Trial Commodore VR and a Mobil-liveried RS500 Sierra Cosworth.
