Reigning Australian Formula 3 champion James Winslow moved a step closer to the 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours after helping KCMG to victory in Sunday’s Asian Le Mans Series race at Fuji Speedway.
The Australian-based Brit was part of the Hong Kong KCMG LMP2 squad that managed to see off a challenge from the French OAK Racing team to win the Fuji 3 Hour.
The victory was the second for the team and Winslow in the inaugural Asian Le Mans placing them firmly at the top of the championship standings.
After recording wins in the Inje (South Korea) and now the Fuji 3 Hour ASLMS races, Winslow holds a 12-point lead in the drivers championship, with the champion team and driver receiving a 2014 Le Mans 24 Hour start.
Winslow told Speedcafe: “It was a fantastic weekend and my first time at Fuji. It’s a tough track to learn so I was very happy to set the fastest time in official practice.
“From that point the weekend went from strength to strength, KCMG are a world class team and its been a great weekend.
China’s Zhuhai circuit will host the penultimate round of the Asian Le Mans Series on October 13.
