Supercars veteran Jason Bright is set to link with Prodrive next season, returning to the Ford squad after a decade away.
Speedcafe.com understands that Bright will take his #21 Racing Entitlements Contract and slot into the fourth garage at the Ford team.
The 43-year-old has been at Brad Jones Racing for the past seven seasons but is being replaced by Nick Percat for 2017.
Eager to secure front-running machinery in which to continue his career, Bright had spent several months exploring his options with a variety of teams.
Although recently confirming enquiries about securing a Triple Eight Holden, the Prodrive deal emerged amid uncertainty over the future of Super Black Racing.
Super Black has operated as Prodrive’s fourth car for the past two seasons, but will not continue in its current guise next year.
Prodrive co-owner Rusty French declared in September that he would buy the REC but has not indicated where it will be placed.
Those looking for RECs include BJR, which has utilised the #21 license for its third car since Bright joined the team in 2010.
Bright drove for Prodrive in 2005 and 2006 in a deal with Ford that also saw him set up Britek Motorsport.
He left Prodrive for Britek in 2007, spending three years under his own banner before moving to BJR.
