Craig Lowndes says that his record-breaking Mount Panorama lap time is testament to the speed of his car has this weekend.
Lowndes re-set Greg Murphy’s famous 2003 qualifying lap record, beating it by 0.06s. CLICK HERE for full practice story.
While Lowndes’ TeamVodafone crashed out of the session, Lowndes told Speedcafe.com.au that it was great to rewrite the record books.
“The lap was great,” he said.
“The car has been working really well all weekend. This is the first time that we had a green set of tyres with good clean air and no problems. Ity really shows the potential of the car.
“But that’s only practice – we’ve still got qualifying to come.”
“That was disappointing where we were actually getting prepared for our own run. It is disappointing to have one side of the fence good, and the other side not. I know Jamie will be disappointed. I know that car was quick and potentially be the same as ours. We’ve still got a long way to go yet.”
V8 Supercars qualifying will be held at 1435.
