Andrews finalises Asian Le Mans Series contest

MEDIA RELEASE: Australian Scott Andrews is set to compete in the 4th and final round of the Asian Le Mans Series at Sepang this weekend.

Continuing the relationship with the WINEurasia LMP3 squad alongside gentleman racer and team partner William Lok, and new addition, Aston Martin GT3 Development driver Devon Modell, as former partner Aidan Read moves on to LMP2.

Andrews will be looking to continue his rise in the Asian market having again impressed at the previous round at the Buriram Circuit, Thailand.

Scott turned heads during his first Qualifying session putting the Ligier on the front row.

“I’m was pretty happy with p2. It was my first time driving the car in qualifying trim ever, and my first time on green tyres, so I probably left some time out there but I was certainly pushing. It seems our race car is probably better than our qualy car so we will now focus on the 4 hour race this weekend.” Andrews quoted.

While the title is out of reach, the WINEurasia team are hoping to have a strong showing in the season Finale.

“Our aim is a podium finish and with a clean run I see no reason why we cannot have our two cars on the LMP3 podium,” Team Principal Mark Goddard said in reference to the WINURASIA and Jackie Chan DC entries.

“Scott Andrews has been a revelation, his speed on very old tyres at the end of the last race in Buriram was very impressive and he is getting faster every time he sits in the car.

“William Lok also had his best drive in Asian Le Mans last time out and if he can do the same in Sepang it will give us a very good chance of a top three finish. “Devon Modell joins us in Malaysia, he comes highly rated and we expect him to be on the pace.”
