Jack Perkins remains upbeat about his future despite being dumped after just one season back in the main game.
Perkins was recalled to the championship full-time this season for the first time since 2009, linking with the Jeld-Wen Ford entry.
Team owner Charlie Schwerkolt has decided to release Perkins in favour of Lee Holdsworth for 2015.
Perkins has taken the decision in his stride, refusing to become angered at being ditched after a single season.
Enduring a difficult year in the #18 Falcon, one of the few highlights for Perkins was at Bathurst when he qualified in the shootout before running high in the top 10, ultimately finishing 12th with co-driver Cameron Waters.
“To qualify in the top 10 and run in the top five all day before we finished 12th shows a little bit of potential,” Perkins told Speedcafe.com
“I’d like to think if nothing else I might be able to pick up some good part time drives around not just limited to the V8 enduros.
“I’ve got nothing planned following the last race in Sydney.”
Perkins says he worked extremely hard to return to the top category without any hint of nepotism which he shouldered in previous stints with links to his famous dad Larry Perkins.
“To be able to get back into the main game and have zero affiliation with what dad had done in terms of Perkins Motorsport or Kelly Racing, to get back there on my own two feet is something I wanted to do,” Perkins said.
“And I’m pretty proud that I was able to do that.
“But obviously I’d be more proud if I was more successful and had another year in the main game.
“It’s a tough game out there. It’s political and obviously very expensive as well. I’d love to get back full-time.
“I’ve definitely learnt some serious lessons on racing and V8 Supercar racing this year and I’d be careful of the next opportunity that might present itself in a full-time fashion.”
Perkins holds no grudges over his axing as he looks forward to the penultimate round of the season at Phillip Island this weekend.
“These things happen in motor racing. You can be bitter and twisted about it and get a sore face or you can keep your relationships going,” the driver added.
“I wish Charlie and Lee (Holdsworth) all the best next year and I really hope Lee can get more speed out of the car than I was able to because Charlie deserves the result.”
