Continual rain has put paid to Queensland’s second leg of the 2010/2011 World Series Sprintcars Championship.
The $20,000 to win Australian Open, which doubled as a round of the World Series, at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway was postponed on Friday, and again yesterday. However, heavy rain overnight and the forecast calling for even more rain in the Brisbane region today, there was little likelihood of the event being able to be contested over the next few days.
The decision to abandon the event by World Series and Venue Management also took into consideration the contracted teams who need to travel to South Australia for the next round on January 14.
An announcement will also be made at a later date regarding the re-scheduling of the Capalaba Wreckers Sprintcar Cup which was called mid-way through the program last Wednesday night.
The next event at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway will now be the Australian Wingless Sprints Championship on Friday and Saturday night January 14/15, featuring over sixty drivers from across Australia and New Zealand.
