The Virgin deal coincides with moves to finalise a new race in Dubai, which would mark V8 Supercars’ return to the Middle Eastern market for the first time since 2012.
Speedcafe.com revealed interest from Dubai authorities late last year, with the Dubai Autodrome the expected home for V8 Supercars’ latest international foray for 2017.
The Dubai venue hosted the likes of A1 GP and FIA GT shortly after opening in 2004, but has focussed largely on domestic motorsport over the last decade.
V8 Supercars visited nearby Bahrain four times from 2006 and the UAE’s Abu Dhabi three times from 2010.
