Stephen Grove will make yet another overseas start when he lines up on the grid for this weekend’s combined Carrera Cup Asia/Carrera Cup Japan round at Fuji Speedway.
Grove, who currently leads the Carrera Challenge class for gentleman drivers in the Australian all-Porsche championship, is already in Japan for what will be his second overseas start in as many months.
The Victorian raced in the Carrera Cup France round at Spa four weeks prior, finishing with race results of 14th and ninth in Class B (30th and 23rd outright) in a 39-car field.
“I’m really excited about racing at Fuji,” said Grove.
“I’ve spent some time on the simulator on the circuit and I can’t wait to get on the track itself this weekend.
“It will be another amazing international one-make experience and a great warm up for Sepang, which is another fast, flowing Formula 1-style circuit,” he explained, referencing the Carrera Cup Australia round set down for the Malaysian circuit in July.
The drive comes on the weekend following a strong showing in the Carrera Cup Pro-Am at Phillip Island, where Grove teamed up with Supercars driver Tim Slade to score pole position and finish the round fifth.
Carrera Cup Asia and Carrera Cup Japan will each hold two separate races before a combined grid race will cap off the weekend (June 2-4).
