Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup will compete in lawnmowers at Mount Panorama in three weeks time.
In another ‘Race TeamVodafone’ promotion, Lowndes and Whincup will drive two thoroughbred mowers in a paddock near the famous Bathurst circuit.
Today at Federation Square, Melbourne, the pair dressed up as penguins, losing to two general public entrants in the Vodafone Penguin Slalom.
Today’s event was the second ‘You versus TeamVodafone’ event. The first race was in Townsville where Lowndes and Whincup competed in a tank race.
Besides their impending duties behind the wheel of their red and silver Commodores VEs at Phillip Island this weekend, Lowndes and Whincup will be focussing on their lawnmower challenge.
“We’re racing ride on lawnmowers in the paddock at Bathurst,” Whincup said.
“I’ve driven a few lawnmowers in my time, but apparently, one of these has a 1000cc Suzuki engine in it, and the other has a KTM 450 2-stroke. That’s going to be off the chain.”
