Chaz Mostert continued Prodrive's fine form at Barbagallo by topping the final practice session prior to qualifying for Race 9.
The defending winner of the Sunday Barbagallo race moved to the top of the order with a 57.67s inside the final five minutes.
“Hopefully we can take this into qualy,” smiled the 23-year-old, who scored his first career pole for yesterday's opening race.
“I can't wait to get out there and fingers crossed we can do what we did here last year.”
The session was run in dry and sunny conditions, despite a brief shower passing over the circuit earlier in the morning.
Fabian Coulthard had commanded the top spot for much of the hit-out and ended up second ahead of Shane van Gisbergen, Mark Winterbottom and Will Davison.
Van Gisbergen engaged in some gamesmanship with Jason Bright during the session as the two argued over track space.
The Kiwi however says he is firmly focussed on qualifying ahead of a race where he holds a tyre advantage over much of his opposition.
“It (the extra set of tyres) is an advantage but we still have got to do the job,” he said.
“We have so many strategy options we have just got to pick the one that will give us the most advantage.”
An trip through the Turn 6 sand for James Moffat was the only notable off-track excursion from the 15 minute practice.
The 20 minute qualifying session is schedule for 1200 local time.
