Michael Patrizi will be joining forces with Australian karting icon Remo Luciani for the 2010 CIK Stars of Karting Series to assist with the further development of young drivers through the sport..
Patrizi, who has competed in the V8 Supercar Championship Series over the past two years, was a regular competitor in the CIK series under its former guise against the likes of Mark Winterbottom and Jamie Whincup.
“I’ve always had a passion for karting, and I’ve always been very involved in it. I’ve won at a national level, I’ve got a podium at an international level, and I’ve raced at the European level for a factory team. I’m still in contact with those guys,” said Patrizi.
“I have a lot of great memories there and it was such a fantastic part of my career. In my karting days.”
While not planning on a full-time return behind the wheel Patrizi is more focused on assisting young drivers to develop themselves as under the Remo Racing banner.
“Remo and I have had a long relationship since I was racing karts, this new opportunity with the CIK Stars of Karting Series is something that we are both very passionate about,” said Patrizi.
“At the end of the day, I want to give something back to the sport that’s given to me. The team is going to help service my sponsors, my racing and my fans. They are the ones who give me my job and this is the start of something I’d like to do in the future.”
Luciani and Patrizi are currently finalising their driver line-up with their likely line-up consisting of a pair of competitors in the Pro Light(KF1) and Pro Junior(KF3) categories with the likely inclusion of drivers in the Pro Gearbox(KZ2) category for selected rounds throughout the year.
