Triple Eight continues V6 testing at QR

Triple Eight has continued the development of its new V6 turbo engine with an outing at Queensland Raceway today.

Six-time champion Jamie Whincup has jumped aboard the Holden Sandman Supercar, which the team has been using to develop the 3.6 litre General Motors engine, this morning at the Ipswich circuit.

A series of runs throughout the day is planned.

The test follows further mileage being completed at the Norwell Motorplex by Craig Lowndes and Shane van Gisbergen this week.

Triple Eight released a video clip of the V6 turbo in action at Norwell this week to showcase the noise of the new power unit which is still under development.

The engine is set to make its Supercars debut in 2018 via a series of wildcard outings before a full 2019 roll out.

Testing of the V6 turbo is also taking place alongside a Triple Eight driver evaluation day which will see Dunlop Super2 Series drivers Kurt Kostecki, Will Brown and Nathan Morcom steer a current specification Commodore.
