Dunlop Super2 Series leader Paul Dumbrell will race in the season-ending Newcastle round after welcoming his second child into the world.
However, the child was born exactly a week early, allowing the Eggleston Motorsport driver to make the trip.
“Thankfully the baby was born on Sunday night, so we’re all good to go,” team manager Rachael Eggleston told Speedcafe.com.
“The baby must have known, so there you go.”
Dumbrell confirmed that all is going well for the family, notwithstanding a tight turnaround to make the hospital.
“All going well so far, we cut it fine with the baby only arriving seven minutes after we got to the hospital!” he told Speedcafe.com.
“Rosie and Rafael are going really well, and Lenny is a super proud big brother!”
Dumbrell holds a 49-point lead over Todd Hazelwood entering the seventh and final points-paying round of 2017.
The two-time Super2 Series winner will guarantee another title by finishing third in each of the two races, while a win on the Saturday would leave him needing to only finish eighth on the Sunday.
Jack Le Brocq is also a mathematical chance but at 196 points off the lead could well be formally out of contention come Saturday night.
Round 7 starts with two 30-minute practice sessions on Friday 24 November.
