Marcos Ambrose today returned to the V8 Supercars paddock for the first time since news of his retirement from driving broke late last year.
The local hero met with members of DJR Team Penske, including drivers Scott Pye and Fabian Coulthard, during a flying visit to the Symmons Plains circuit.
Ambrose currently has no official position with the team, but is expected to be involved in the squad’s sponsorship program later in the season.
Based in Launceston, the 39-year-old has been exploring several business interests since stepping out of full-time V8 Supercars competition 12 months ago.
His last appearance at a V8 Supercars event came at Pukekohe last November, where he informed Roger Penske that he would not be returning to the co-driver’s seat in 2016.
Ambrose’s V8 Supercars comeback and subsequent exit were major stories over the last two seasons following a nine-year tenure in NASCAR.
