Craig Lowndes will make his Australian children’s television debut on the hit show Roary the Racing Car on January 29 on the ABC for Kids, but before then, a sneak peek of the program has been issued to Speedcafe.com.au.
Below is a short video, highlighting Lowndes’s involvement in the kids series, and a first look at the Team Voadfone’s character ‘Conrod’ – the big throaty new Aussie V8 named after the famous straight at Bathurst.
Lowndes’s debut episode as ‘Conrod’ will air on January 29 on ABC1 at 8am followed on ABC2 at 1pm. The new series will continue to screen weekdays at these times.
In the three episodes that features Lowndes’s voice as Conrod, the red and silver car (a similar feel to the TeamVodafone machines) tries out Farmer Green’s new bio fuel (airing Jan 29), races against the other cars at the circuit ‘Silver Hatch’ (a obvious combination of UK circuits Silverstone and Brands Hatch – airing Feb 1), and Conrod also gets a tune up and boasts that his spoiler makes him faster than the other cars (Sorry Roland, but Winton springs to mind here!). That episode airs on Feb 2.
The episodes will be viewed by children in over 100 countries, taking Lowndes’ voice to the world.
In other Roary the Racing Car news, the pre-school favourite will be making an appearance at the Australian Grand Prix (March 25-28).
Lowndes will make guest appearances at the ‘Roary Pit Zone’ where a wide variety of free entertainment will be available to the kids (big and small) over the four days.
Also, look out for a national retail promotion in March/April, where if you buy any Roary product, you’ll go into the draw to win a Holden SS V8 – just like Conrod!
